   The Gold Recovery Fun event was a tremendous success. Many participants mentioned that this was the most fun they ever had.
   
   The main aim of the event was to recover lost gold from the sand used in previous competitions. This can be used for Mac Mac club panning competitions in the future. Further it was important to ensure an interesting & relaxed but fun event not bogged down by too many rules and restrictions. The prizes on offer were impressive.
   
   All above aims were not only reached but were exceeded.
   
   Coen Vermaak & Sonja Vermaak won the R4,000.00 prize for the team which recovered the most gold flakes in a 2.5 hour event. They panned out 72 buckets of sand in this event.
   
   The days events recovered a total of 482 gold flakes.
   
   There was consent amongst all participants that another event like this must be organised as soon as possible with even more fun & spot prizes on offer

   Date of Event: Sat, 4 May 2013
   Where: Mac Mac Forest Retreat
   Rules:
   • Teams can consist of 1 – 4 individuals
   • Entry fee is R250/team
   • Cost / bucket sand is R5
   • Only one member of a team in the pit or competition area at any given time
   • Each member’s gold must be bottled and counted when they decide to get out of the pit.
   • Each team gets 2.5 hours in their pit
   • The buckets will be supplied with sand from previous competitions (R5/bucket)
   • You can pan out as many buckets as possible in 2.5 hours (R5/bucket)
   • There will be a morning session and an afternoon session.
   • Starting time for first session will be 09H30, and the second session at 14H00
   • Prebook ad payment with Dix, will get you first option – first come, first served
   • Date of competition is 4 May 2013
   • Most gold found by a team win the minimum prize of R4000
   • Non members also welcome
   • Must use a pan according to the rules of the World Goldpanning Association
   • Any gold found on any member of a team when entering the competition area, will get the whole team disqualified without any refunds
   • In the case of a draw, a shootout (with seeded sand) will determine the winner.
   • Independent nugget counters will be used
   • Pre booking essential
   • The Mac Mac Gold Panning Committee reserves the right to review the rules at any time and adjust them should it be required.

   There is a lot of interest for the 4 May event and the pits are being booked at a steady rate. If you want to enter a team, you have to register now to ensure a place (only 30 teams can enter. See registration forms in a previous post). Remember to mention if you want to do the morning or afternoon session (09h30 - 12h00 & 14h00 - 16h30), and if you have a specific pit you want to use. We will allocate the closest pit to your choice should it already be booked. Click on link below for more information.
